Bulk Storage
Definition: What is Bulk Storage?
Equipment and supplies stored in a warehouse in large quantities are described as bulk storage. Unlike bin storage, goods stored in bulk storage more often than not use original containers. The term is widely used in storage of liquids, such as petroleum products, in tanks, unlike drum or packaged storage. This kind of storage is generally used for materials delivered in large quantities. Goods such as tires, glass products and beverages that would take up a lot of storage space are stored this way. Bulk storage requires fewer physical storage bins. It also allows faster access to individual containers, as it permits clearer warehouse structure, such as blocks and rows.
