Air Curtains
Definition: What is an Air Curtain?
Air curtains are devices used in large spaces such as warehouses, that are used to stop air and contaminants from tranvelling between two separated spaces. They incorporate down-facing fans over building entrances or openings between two spaces in which temperatures are set to differ.
Another usage is as pneumatic barriers to contain spills — oil spills, in particular.
The air blowers push narrow streams of air across openings. This stops the movement of hot or cold air, as well as contaminants, and even bugs from one space to the other.
Air curtains are often used in grocery store refrigerator cases, mall storefronts and warehouse loading platforms or truck docks.
